Authorities in Houston, Texas, arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with the stabbing death of his roommate, a British nursing student.
Elizabeth Odunsi was found deceased with multiple stab wounds on the kitchen floor on April 26, days before she was set to graduate from Texas Woman’s University.
Officers spotted blood on the back patio of the home and entered to discover the deceased 23-year-old woman and her suspected killer, Chester Lamar Grant, both suffering stab wounds.
Grant’s wounds were reportedly self-inflicted. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Police had been called to the pair’s home several times since they started living together two months ago.
During a bond hearing, the judge revealed that on the day of the “brutal crime”, police were at the pair’s home after an argument erupted over Grant’s cat.
