Shooting in Cleveland leaves toddler dead; man injured

A 3-year-old boy was killed in a shooting that also left a man with injuries in Cleveland’s Stockyards neighborhood Thursday.

The fatal shooting occurred at around 2:20 p.m. in the 3500 block of West 66th Street near Denison Avenue, Mayor Justin Bibb confirmed.

“Earlier today, our city lost a precious child to gun violence,” Bibb said.

“This heartbreaking incident is another reminder that we must come together as a city, state, and nation to address this violence and its root causes.”

    The child was fatally shot and a man standing outside the car suffered non life-threatening injuries.

    Police said that persons of interest were in custody while the search continued for other people involved in the shooting.

    “We will not rest until those responsible are held accountable and brought to justice,” Bibb added
