Man gets fatally struck by car after stopping to help crash victims

A Phoenix man is dead after he stopped to help victims of a crash and got struck himself, his grieving father said.

34-year-old Douglas “Doug” Hunt was tragically killed at around 4 a.m. Sunday when he tried to help with a multi-car crash on Loop 202, Red Mountain in Phoenix.

“I would expect nothing less from him,” Doug’s father, John Hunt, said. “That’s who he is.”

  • “We’ve heard people say if he wouldn’r have stopped. He’d be alive, but people don’t know the definition of a good Samaritan. A good Samaritan is going to stop and help.”

    Doug was a financial advisor who loved his family, outdoors and motorcycles. His father called him his best friend.

    “In fact, I keep waiting for him to walk through the door,” John Hunt said.
