Suspect arrested in death of Bronx grandma shot through heart while running errands

A 21-year-old gangbanger is behind bars in connection with the callous murder of a grandmother who was fatally shot while running errands in the Bronx last week.

Joshua Evans faces murder and manslaughter charges over the deadly Thursday shooting of Enriqueta Rivera, 71, in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx.

    A 34-year-old woman sustained injuries to her left arm in the attack which police said was targeting a rival gang member in a busy commercial street at around 12:30 p.m.

    “They are two innocent women, two Bronx residents, two unintended targets both struck by senseless gunfire,” said NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny.
