Authorities in Chicago are investigating a horrific quadruple murder after a family and their three dogs were found shot to death inside a suburban home late Sunday.
Alberto Rolon, Zoraida Bartolomei, and their two children were discovered at around 8:40 p.m. inside the Romeoville home.
The family’s three dogs were also shot; Romeoville Deputy Police Chief Chris Burne said that the incident didn’t appear to be a murder-suicide.
“Right now, we are investigating this as a murder,” he said. Due to the timeframe that has gone by – more than 18 hours from the time we were contacted – we are not asking anybody to shelter in place, we are not actively looking for anybody in the area.”
Relatives requested a welfare check after one of the victims did not show up for work at 6 a.m. Sunday.
The murders likely took place between 9 p.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Sunday, police revealed.
“They kept to themselves,” a neighbor said of the massacred family. “I really don’t know. Never saw the kids outside playing and I have a child. I don’t know really what happened and it’s very scary. Too close to home.”
