A New York man was charged with second-degree murder after he allegedly ended an argument with his father in a gruesome murder.
47-year-old August Velasco was reportedly fighting with his 76-year-old father inside their Yonkers home Tuesday afternoon when he grabbed a meat cleaver and stabbed the old man “multiple times.”
The father suffered fatal wounds to the face, head, hands, and back. He died at the scene.
Velasco’s lawyer asked for a psychiatric evaluation of the suspect while Yonkers Police Sgt. Frank DiDomizio revealed that no prior incidents were reported at the house.
“It is a sad and tragic incident when an individual takes the life of another, a sentiment which is only amplified when there is a family relation connecting them,” said Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza.
“I applaud our Police Officers and Detectives for their quick response and thoroughness throughout this investigation.”
