Man jumps 750 feet to death off five-star Manhattan hotel

Authorities in New York City said that a man died a horrific death late Thursday when he jumped off a ritzy Manhattan hotel.

The man, who was reportedly wearing pajamas, fell 750 feet to his death from the top of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Columbus Circle at around 9 p.m.

Police said that the decedent did not appear to be a resident of the hotel. He used a service elevator to get to the roof.

    His arm landed across the street from the hotel. Blood was also seen covering nearby construction scaffolding, witnesses reported.

    Officials said that criminality was not suspected in the death. No other people were injured.
