Charges are being considered against a Louisiana man after the drowning death of his 1-year-old granddaughter under his watch last week.
On July 20, victim Nevaeh Fugate was playing with her older sibling when they were attacked by a dog and she fell into a kiddie pool.
Investigators said that although there were only nine inches of water in the pool, the one-year-old died as a result of drowning. At the time, her grandfather was supposed to be watching her and her siblings.
Detectives are weighing possible charges against the man as they await toxicology results. Meanwhile, Nevaeh's mom has set up a GoFundMe page to cover funeral costs.
“I am a single parent with 4 children,” she wrote. “A very tragic thing has happened to my baby girl, my 1-year-old. I need help with giving her a proper meaningful funeral and burial, anything would help. This is a very hard and tragic event for me, my kids, and our families.”
