Small plane crashes in Central Missouri woods killing 2; survivor in serious condition

A small plane crash claimed two lives Thursday afternoon in the wooded area of Lake of The Ozarks in central Missouri, authorities said.

A third passenger of the plane sustained severe injuries and was listed in serious condition.

An eyewitness called 911 at 12”13 p.m. to report seeing a crashing plane sending first responders to the scene. The plane was located in some trees near Osage Beach.

  • According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the small aircraft had just taken off from Grand Glaize Airport nearby.

    The deceased victims were identified as Hayden Ritchhart, 22, and Evan Vandiver, 19. The survivor is a 54-year-old man from Richmond, Missouri.

    The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
