New York City news, New York news.

Authorities in New York City are investigating after residents of an East Harlem apartment building made the gruesome discovery of a deceased woman inside a trash compactor room early Friday.

Police said that the victim was a woman in her 30s. Her body showed no signs of trauma. Her cause of death is being determined.

Resident Cheryl Lago recalled the moment she found the dead woman in the second-floor compactor room of her apartment building at 107 E. 126th Street.

It was her friend who alerted her that someone was sleeping in the room, as it was “normal” to occur in the complex.
