2 migrants found dead in vehicle outside Brooklyn shelter

The NYPD is investigating the death of two asylum seekers after their bodies were found in a car outside a Brooklyn migrant shelter early Thursday.

The 24 and 25 years old men were discovered inside a Nissan Sentra parked outside the Jefferson, a six-story commercial building turned into a migrant shelter in March, just after 8:30 a.m.

  • The older victim was pronounced dead at the scene while the other man died at Woodhall Hospital shortly later.

    Investigators are suspecting drug overdoses after drug paraphernalia was discovered inside the vehicle but an official cause of death is pending.

    “We were saddened to learn about the tragic death this week of two asylum seekers found outside of a facility in Brooklyn where the city is providing migrants shelter,” said a City Hall spokesperson. “The NYPD is investigating this incident.”
