Search called off for Australian passenger who went overboard off Hawaii coast

Two days after he plunged to his death off a cruise ship near Hawaii, the search for an Australian passenger has been called off.

The US Coast Guard said Thursday that they will end the search for 35-year-old Warmick Tollemache after taking the “difficult decision” with his family.

  • Tollemache went overboard off Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas trip about 500 miles south of Kailua Kona, Big Island at around 11 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.

    “Our family is heartbroken at the loss of our beloved Warwick,” the passenger's relatives said in a statement.

    “He was a kind, beautiful, and gentle soul who was adored by everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed.”
