An elderly man considered the "father of his neighborhood" was found slashed to death in the elevator of a Brooklyn building and the suspect is a serial attacker who assaulted two women, the NYPD said.
The suspect punched the first female victim at around 1:30 p.m. at Pacific Street and Third Avenue in Bodrum Hill, police said.
Around a block away, the suspect slashed another woman in the thigh. Shortly after 2 p.m., an 83-year-old man was found dead in the elevator of a Nevins Street building.
Police said that the man sustained fatal slashes to the neck and right arm; he was declared dead at the scene.
A resident of the building said that the slain man lived on the building's 19th floor since the 1960s; He described the killer as “cruel and heartless” for slaughtering someone who is “as harmless as a fly.”
“He was a very quiet and gentle man. He would always stick to himself. He comes out and helps decorate the hallway. He was really to himself,” the neighbor said.
“Whoever did this was really cruel and heartless. He was very fragile. He was maybe 70 pounds...very skinny.”
