A Mississippi mother-of-four who went missing earlier this week is believed dead as authorities and volunteers comb an area where her charred car was found in the hopes to find her body.

Ebony Owens, 36, went missing on March 15 hours after deputies responded to a welfare check at her Edwards home.

Her husband, Michael Owens, was arrested for questioning before being charged with murder and arson in connection to the case.

  • “Initially, the vehicle fire, that was yesterday morning, we didn't even know who that vehicle belonged to, we didn't know the make or model, ownership of the vehicle, or anything,” Sheriff Tyree Jones said.

“We just had a burned vehicle. So when deputies responded to the residence for the welfare check, they were able to link it.”

The Sheriff's added that Ebony was shot to death and killed. Investigators have strong evidence that her car was then intentionally set ablaze.
