Carjacker loses control of stolen car in Manhattan, drives onto sidewalk hurting 6 pedestrians

Six people including two toddlers were sent to hospitals after a female carjacker lost control of the stolen car and careened it onto the sidewalk late Wednesday.

Deanna Cimaglia allegedly stole the black Honda Accord in Yonkers at around 6 p.m. and while taking off, she jumped the curb onto the way of the two girls and four adults just outside R.G. Ortiz Funeral Home, police said.

Authorities said that two women and a man suffered injuries to the neck and back while another woman sustained a broken leg.

  • The 3-year-old girls suffered bruises to their faces and bleeding. They are listed in stable condition at Cohen Children's Medical Center.

    The 34-year-old suspect returned to the scene and was arrested without incident.

    She faces charges of criminal possession of stolen property, aggravated unlicensed operator, and violation of driving without a license.
