A New York father and his teenage daughter were found dead inside their Baldwinsville home Friday in what investigators suspect was a murder-suicide.
51-year-old Christopher Wood and Ava Wood, 14, were found dead from gunshot wounds to the head in separate rooms of the house after Ava's mom requested a welfare check at around 8:30 a.m. Friday.
The woman said that her daughter did not show up for school and that no one answered the door when she knocked.
Investigators believe Christopher's wound was self-inflicted. They revealed that he warned his wife the day earlier that “This is how it ends for us.”
Ava was a ninth-grader at Durgee Junior High School where she excelled in athletics. The teen had been living with her father since the separation of her parents.
“It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that I inform you of the tragic loss of Durgee Jr, High School 9th grade student Ava Woods,” the school said in an email to parents.
“We are a close-knit school community and our hearts are broken by this tragedy. Our thoughts are with Ava's family and friends during this extremely difficult time.”
