Georgia football player, staffer killed in crash days after historic championship win over TCU

Days after their historic championship victory over Tennessee Tigers, Georgia's Bulldogs are grieving the tragic passing of two members of theirs in a car crash early Sunday morning.

Devin Willock, the team's offensive lineman, and staffer Chandler LeCroy, passed away in a horrific car crash that also sent two other members of the Georgia football program to hospitals.

“The entire Georgia family is devastated by the tragic loss of football student-athlete Devin Willock and football staff member Chandler LeCroy,” the team said in a statement.

    “Devin and Chandler were two special people who meant so much to the University of Georgia, our football program, and our athletic department. We ask that everyone keep their families in your prayers during this very difficult time.”

    “The UGA Atheltic Association will work with our medical team as well as our mental health and performance personnel to make sure we are providing the best support possible for our staff and student-athletes who are processing this grief.”

    Authorities said that the crash occurred at around 3 a.m. Willock was pronounced dead at the scene while LeCroy died at a hospital.
