A toddler was left with a severe head injury and brain bleeding after he was found unresponsive while in the care of his babysitter Thursday.
Howard Youngblood, 36, was arrested after he called first responders to help revive 22-month-old Ty’Shawn Brumfield.
The boy was rushed to a hospital in a life-threatening condition suffering brain bleeding, swelling, broken bones in his back, trauma over his body, and cigarette burns.
“Right now, even though we have all these other things with his bones in his back and stuff being broken other things, the primary concern is that head injury,” the boy’s grandmother said.
Youngblood claimed that the victim fell in the front steps and sustained the injuries, but doctors determined that Brumfield’s wounds were “in no way consistent” with his claims.
The babysitter was charged with second-degree cruelty to juveniles with his bond set at $150,000.
