A Seattle boy died last week from severe head trauma with bruises covering his body, authorities said.
Cynthia Enyeart, 23, and her boyfriend Junior Asghedom, 20, blamed each other for the death of her 4-year-old son whom they initially claimed had slipped while getting out of the bathtub.
The boy’s biological father, his brother, and another relative had reportedly contacted Child Protective Services regarding the alleged abuse.
A woman described seeing Enyeart’s son with unexplained bruises on his birthday last November; she also spotted Enyeart punching the child when he wanted to stay with his grandparents.
The victim’s father allegedly witnessed Enyeart beating the boy on multiple occasions and called authorities to report the incidents.
“I was like, did mommy hit you? He said, ‘yeah’. I called CPS twice. Yeah, they did not care what I had to say,” he said.
Both Enyeart and Asghedom were charged with second-degree murder over the December 11 death.
