Authorities in Louisville said that a couple and their two teen daughters were killed in a tragic murder-suicide that shocked the community.
Gary Stanton, 60, is believed to have shot 49-year-old Mary Stanton and daughters Adrianna and Brianna, aged 17 and 11, before fatally shooting himself.
The woman’s sister said that the family had just returned from a trip to Kenya where they had attended the funeral of Mary’s father.
“Mary was full of life, and this week in particular she was very optimistic about life. Nothing seemed off,” the sister said.
Louisville Metro Police Department Major Micah Scheu said that the incident was “difficult” to investigate especially since it involved children.
“We feel pretty confident that the incident is going to be a murder-suicide situation where the adult male was a primary aggressor who shot the three females,” Scheu added.
