NYC man’s death under investigation after he was found on street with knife lodged in chest

An unidentified man’s death is being investigated after he was found lying dead in the corner of a Brooklyn neighborhood in New York City late Wednesday.

Little is known about the 38-year-old male victim whose body was discovered by officers at around 11 p.m. in the Sunset Park section of Brooklyn, at the intersection of 5th Avenue and 60th Street.

  • Officers said that the victim had a knife protruding from his chest when he was found; they rushed him to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn where he was declared dead.

    “It is unclear at this time if the aided male is a victim of a crime, or if the wound is self-inflicted,” the New York Police Department said in a statement.

    Authorities are not releasing the victim’s identity pending family notification. The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine a cause of death.
