A Cincinnati football coach was gunned down late Tuesday as he left a local park where he had been training with his team, police said.
Jermaine Knox, 37, was fatally shot outside the College Hill Recreational Facility following a practice.
Another man was shot in the leg but is expected to recover, authorities said. No suspect has so far been named.
“I saw the car that was surrounded here pull out from the lot down there at the rec center and pull up here to the stop sign,” a witness said.
“The guy got out of the car on his phone and stumbled over there and died.”
Community activist Mitchell Morris said that the tragedy was more brutal for young players who had to watch their coach die.
“That made it double bad. No one should have to live like that. Nobody should have to live life around this type of gun violence,” he said.
