Fiery plane collision leaves 2 dead in Ohio after aircraft crashed into car dealership

A fiery plane crash in Marietta, Ohio left two people dead Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The victims were identified as the pilot and passenger of the small aircraft that crashed into the Pioneer Buick GMC dealership at around 7:15 a.m.

Footage from the scene showed thick plumes of smoke and flames emanating from the wreck of the 1974 Beechcraft King Air E90.

  • The vehicles inside the dealership and nearby buildings were heavily damaged, authorities said, but there was no reported human loss on the ground.

    Preliminary investigation revealed that the doomed plane had taken off from John Glenn International Airport in Columbus at 6:39 a.m.

    “Our thoughts are with the families,” City officials said on Facebook noting that State Route 7 was reopened to motorists.
