The father of a missing Kentucky child was arrested along with his girlfriend earlier this week after human remains were found in a storage unit belonging to the man.
On Sept. 30, Daviess County deputies were asked to conduct a welfare check at the home of Jose Gomez-Alvarez and Cheyanne Porter over the suspicious disappearance of a girl.
The tipster told detectives that the couple was caring for several children but one of them had mysteriously vanished.
On Oct. 3, the investigation led police to a storage facility in New Hartford where Gomez-Alvarez owned a unit. Deputies obtained a search warrant and found a tote bag with human remains inside the unit.
Gomez-Alvarez and Porter were arrested in Berea on charges of tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse.
More charges are pending positive identification of the remains and autopsy results.
