Somerset news, Wisconsin news.

A Minnesota teen was stabbed to death while tubing with a group of friends in Somerset, Wisconsin before the suspect took off “floating down” the Apple River.

The 17-year-old boy and four other people were stabbed by a 52-year-old Minnesota man who had since been arrested.

Police said that it is too early in the investigation to say whether the attack was random or calculated.

“We believe he continued down on the river,” St. Croix County Sheriff Scott Knudson said of the suspect.

  • “But we did locate him with his group of tubers at the exit point of the river. We believe he floated away.”

Knudson added that the four injured victims, all in their early 20s, are listed in critical condition.

“We’re actually in the process of trying to divert some of the tubing traffic around our crime scene,” he said.

“That alone is causing some challenges trying to get them off the river, and gathering up what we can in a hard-to-get-to area.”
