Foul odor leads to grisly discovery of badly decomposed body under couch in Queens

The New York Police Department is working to identify a badly decomposed body found under a couch in a Queens apartment on Wednesday.

People complaining of foul odor led to the grisly discovery of the rotting body that was so decomposed that it couldn’t be identified.

But investigators could determine that the male body may have been there for weeks given the advanced state of decomposition.

“The individual sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck and back. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death,” the NYPD said in a statement.

The statement added that the apartment was located in Woodhaven, one of Queens’ safest neighborhoods.
