Authorities in Kankakee, Illinois are investigating after making a horrific discovery inside a home on Wednesday.
Three men were found dead in the house which is across the street from Ascension Saint Mary Hospital, police said.
“Our officers secured the scene today and we did not enter the house until we knew that Illinois State Police took over the investigation,” Mayor Chris Curtis said.
According to preliminary findings, the victims may have been shot late Tuesday. Their identities were determined but not publicly revealed.
“There needs to be justice,” the aunt of one victim said. “We need justice served for the crimes that were committed in that house. What I’m feeling now is confused.”
A resident of the neighborhood identified another victim as a 24-year-old man who was very nice to neighbors.
“He was a good kid. He was a great basketball player. He was a real athletic kid. I don’t understand what all this is about.”
