The remains of a missing University of Illinois student were recovered and positively identified earlier this week, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Daniel Sotelo, 26, was last spotted in the 1700 block of South Racine Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. He and his girlfriend, Natally Brookson, both vanished on April 30.
On May 22, Sotelo’s remains were located on Lake Michigan close to Wilmette, two weeks after removing Brookson’s body.
Sotelo’s sister had previously told reporters that her brother was not suicidal and was achieving his master’s degree in Organic Chemistry.
She insisted that he had plans for the future including working at a Naperville organic farm.
