Cook County news, Illinois news.

Cook County authorities continue their search for a missing college student who had vanished with his girlfriend before her body was recovered from Lake Michigan on May 2.

More than a week after the remains of Natally Brookson were located in the lake near Bryn Mawr Avenue, mystery still surrounds the whereabouts of Daniel Sotelo.

Brookson was a 22-year-old psychology student last seen alive at Friedman Place where she worked on April 30. That day, she reportedly quit her job and withdrew from the spring semester at UIC College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

A friend of the missing 26-year-old man was the last person to see him on April 30 when he dropped him off near Roosevelt Road and State Street; Sotelo reportedly told the friend that he was heading up north.

“It’s very tough,” Sotelo’s sister said. “I can only imagine as a parent how that would feel to have one of your kids go missing.”

“I would just tell him, please come home, you’ve got a lot of family members, friends, cousins who are worried about you and we just want to hear from you.”
