Hunters stumble upon missing Ohio woman’s body in deserted campsite

Human remains found by hunters at an abandoned campsite Monday were identified as those of an Ohio woman who went missing last February.

28-year-old Lindsey Schobelock vanished from Chillicothe and her vehicle was found on Windy Ridge Road in Huntington Township, police said.

“On May 9, 2022, my office received information from hunters that there was an abandoned, suspicious, campsite in the woods in the 1200 block of Chester Hill Road,” Sheriff George Lavender Jr. said.

    “Human remains were located during the search and the Ross County Coroner’s Office was contacted. The remains were sent to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for identification.”

    He added: “This case remains under investigation by my office and the Ross County Coroner’s Office.”
