A murder suspect took his own life “in public view” in Brooklyn Wednesday morning after fatally shooting his girlfriend and critically wounding a neighbor.
Pedro Cintron, 55, is believed to be behind the death of 51-year-old Migdalia Ortega which occurred at around 8:15 a.m. amid a fight inside a Fresh Pond Road apartment.
“During the dispute, the 48-year-old neighbor went to check on the third-floor occupant,” Deputy Chief Julie Morrill said.
“She was in shock and fled to her apartment. The suspect followed her and continued shooting. There are shell casings throughout the hallway and stairwell.”
After killing Ortega, who was an NYPD civilian employee, Cintron fled the scene until he showed up on McKibbin Street near Manhattan Avenue Wednesday morning and shot himself in the head in public.
