A fiery car crash claimed the life of a 22-year-old man and nearly killed two others early Friday on the New England Thruway at Baychester Avenue in the Bronx.
It began with a crash on the northbound side of the exit outside Co-op when a BMW collided with the median and burst into flames at around 4:15 a.m.
A Toyota Camry trying to veer away from the crash ended up losing control and flipping down the exit also crashing into the median.
The 27-year-old driver of the Camry was reportedly drunk at the time of the incident; he and a 22-year-old passenger became trapped beneath the vehicle.
EMS rushed the two men and the driver of the BMW to Jacobi Medical Center where the passenger died.
Police said that two other cars collided with each other while trying to avoid the fiery crash scene but no people were reported injured.
