South Carolina news, US news.

The search for a 28-year-old South Carolina man who went missing on March 29 is over after police said that they located human remains believed to be his in a shallow grave.

The last person seen with Devantae Griffin that night was his on-again-off-again girlfriend Jessica Strachan. During the investigation, she gave detectives false information before fleeing the state to Florida without notifying the police.

“We have a murder. This is not just a missing person anymore,” Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright said.

Police arrested Strachan but are looking for another person, identified as 33-year-old Tarus Dorail Crook, who was well-known to the victim and may have helped the woman dispose of the body.

“He didn’t deserve this,” Griffin’s mom said. “He would not hurt anybody. He would give you the shirt off his back. He would not hurt anybody, and for somebody to do this to him, it just makes me angry.”

“They just treated him as if he was nothing; as if he was just trash.”
