The Warrick County Sheriff’s Office said that the parents of a 3-month-old boy who died of starvation last February have been arrested for murder and neglect over the baby’s death.
Deputies were called to a Honeysuckle Drive home on February 15 to help an unresponsive baby but found him dead upon arriving.
Caylin Monroe, 23, and Jakob Scott, 22, the infant’s parents were arrested on April 26 after an investigation into the incident was launched by several law enforcement agencies.
“The investigation began in February 2022 after the Warrick County Sheriff’s Office responded…in reference to an unresponsive infant,” Sheriff Michael Wilder said in a statement.
“Upon arrival, medical units determined the infant was deceased. As the investigation continued, investigators gathered enough information to submit the case for review by the Warrick County Prosecutor’s office.”
“Mr. Scott and Ms. Monroe have been lodged in the Warrick County Jail with no bond.”
