A 20-year-old man was killed Friday at a Brooklyn playground when a gunman opened fire sending kids and their parents running for their lives.
The shooting took place at the St. Andrew’s Playground, on the basketball court, at around 6:40 p.m., police said.
“There were some games going on and then like three shots,” a witness told reporters. “I was shouting, ‘Get down! Get down! Those are shots!”
“It was a big gun. It sounded like a cannon,” he added.
Family members of the fallen man identified him as Daquan Trantham. He was shot one to the chest and once to the face. Officers attempted CPR on him at the scene, but to no avail.
“He was lying there face up in the corner of one of the small basketball courts. He wasn’t moving,” the eyewitness recalled.
“People were going crazy running out with baby carriages.”
Trantham’s distraught family gathered outside a church late Friday to mourn his tragic, senseless killing.
“He was a high school graduate and a hard worker. He was a good kid with a bright smile,” the victim’s grieving dad said.
