A 16-year-old boy was arraigned on a murder charge Saturday night after authorities accused him of fatally shooting a 16-year-old girl, and wounding two other teens Friday afternoon.
Jeremiah Ryan was ordered to be held without bail at the hearing attended by his parents and during which prosecutors cited overwhelming evidence against him.
“I do understand that Mr. Ryan does not have a criminal record and has received a score by the CJA of 25 over 25, based on the charges that are before this court, and the allegations set forth by the people, I do not believe, this court does not believe that any monetary bail will be appropriate,” the presiding judge said.
As he was being escorted out of the courtroom, Ryan’s mom told him she loved him, to whom he replied: “I love you, too.”
Ryan shot Angellyh Yambo dead near the South Bronx Educational Campus when he fired shots during an argument with other individuals.
A girl and a boy who attended the Mott Haven Village Preparatory High School at the same campus sustained injuries.
