An Arkansas woman died Wednesday when a tree fell on her mobile home as severe tornadoes brought blizzards and storms across South and Central America.
“When we arrived, she was already deceased on the scene,” said Emergency Management Director Stephan McClellan about the 20-year-old victim.
Also in Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky nearly 150,000 homes and businesses were left without power by Wednesday evening, authorities said.
The severe weather forecast lingers into Thursday with the potential of strong winds in southern states.
In North Dakota, a major blizzard dumped over nine inches of snow and brought powerful winds since Tuesday.
A state of emergency was declared on Thursday in Louisville where Mayor Greg Fischer warned of a series of storms slamming the area overnight.
