The personal trainer accused of shooting both parents at their luxurious Long Island mansion on Christmas had made his first court appearance before a judge Wednesday.

Prosecutors said that 29-year-old Dino Tomassetti, who is currently detained without bond on attempted murder charges, went violent following a verbal dispute with his parents.

At around 10 p.m. Saturday, the argument between Dino and his parents Vincenza Marsicano-Tomassetti, 64, and Rocco Tomassetti, 65, escalated to the point he decided to leave the $3.2 million Hewlett Harbor home with his one-year-old-son.

  • “When the parents objected, the defendant produced a .22-caliber pistol,” police said. He fired at his mom hitting her in the head before shooting his dad in the back and wrist.

“He struck his father then in the head with the gun numerous times after he ran out of bullets.”

The judge issued protective orders for Tomassetti’s parents, child, and child’s mom despite his defense arguing he didn’t harm or threaten the woman and infant.

“I appreciate your argument, counsel,” the judge responded. “But I believe, based on what’s been described on the record and what I’ve read, that both of those individuals were within what I would classify as an extreme zone of danger.”
