Jeep driver killed after drunk man behind wheel knocked him off Major Deegan Expressway

A horrific double car crash in the Bronx claimed the life of a man after he fell off the Major Deegan Expressway early Sunday morning.

Police officers were alerted to the crash at around 4:45 a.m. in Mott Haven, near E.135th St. where a Jeep and Audi A6 had collided.

  • Reports said that both cars were traveling south when the collision took place and caused the Jeep to flip over toward a barricade before falling off the bridge onto the Third Avenue exit ramp.

    The Jeep’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

    The Audi’s driver, a 23-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving under influence and is expected to face criminal charges.
