An alert secretary at the Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice in Brooklyn helped arrest a 17-year-old student sneaking into the building with a loaded pistol and a stash of cash Wednesday afternoon.
The student was recording his late attendance inside an office when the employee noticed the items and alerted police.
“Dangerous items of any kind have absolutely no place in our schools, and our outstanding school staff and School Safety Agents immediately and safely recovered this item shortly after the student entered the school building, ensuring that all students and staff are safe,” Education Department Spokesman Nathaniel Styer said.
The teen was arrested and taken into a police precinct for questioning; the 9 mm pistol and more than $30,000 bills that he brought to school grounds were seized.
