Chicago Police said that the mother of a 14-year-old boy who had been fatally shot over the weekend was herself gunned down while visiting his memorial early Wednesday morning.

Delisa Tucker was at the sidewalk where her son Kevin Tinker died to light a candle in his memory when she was shot to the chest and pronounced dead at around 12:15 a.m.

“It’s just sad that this whole family, basically, to be killed over time. I’m devastated,” said Pastor Donovan Price who consoled Tucker during a Sunday vigil for her son.

A GoFundMe page was set to help cover the mom and son funerals. The organizer, a family friend, asked people to donate and help put the pair to rest.

“This world is so cold. She lost her mother and brother last year, and now this. I would like to help but I can’t do it alone and her family wasn’t big.”

“Everything you donate will go to their funeral and burial. She leaves behind five other kids. I don’t want her or her son’s body to be sitting for too long so please help me give her and her son a proper home.”
