New York woman arrested after remains of stillborn found buried in strangers’ backyard

A New York woman was released on her own recognizance Tuesday after she was charged with concealing a human corpse, that of her stillborn baby.

According to Watervliet Police, an “exhaustive investigation” revealed that 23-year-old Kyleigh Sawyer was the mom of a baby whose skeletal remains were found buried in a shallow grave last summer.

    The child’s father was cooperating with detectives. It is believed he was not involved in the crime.

    Sawyer reportedly told detectives that she panicked after giving birth and instead of seeking help, she got rid of the body.
