House lawmakers have passed late Friday President Biden’s $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure package, clearing up the way for Democrats to adopt the procedural rule for the social spending bill.
Initially planning to also vote on the $1.75 trillion social spending bill, lawmakers’ hopes to have it passed along with the bipartisan infrastructure package vanished with moderate Democrats demanding it “scored” for more transparency.
President Biden and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer are reportedly confident the House will reach a consensus before Thanksgiving.
The legislation will have to be endorsed by key moderate lawmakers in the Senate including Sens. Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema.
