Kansas lawmaker steps away from duties over ‘frivolous’ criminal lawsuit involving him and brother

A Kansas City lawmaker had announced on Twitter that he is stepping away from his legislative duties for a week amid a criminal investigation involving his brother.

21-year-old State Rep. Aaron Coleman took a “leave of absence” to admit himself to a mental health facility as required by the Johnson County District Judge.

    On Saturday, Coleman was involved with his brother in a fierce dispute at their grandfather’s home over “religious beliefs” and robbery accusations.

    Coleman was asked to resign by some House Democrats after news of his familial issues emerged, adding to previous scandalous allegations of abuse and disruptive behavior.
