Three suspects have entered guilty pleas in connection with the fatal shooting of a New Orleans girl last summer during a graduation party.
On May 30, Todriana Peters attended a graduation party with a family member to charge her phone but before she could leave to her grandmother’s home, she was gunned down amid a gunfire exchange.
Pernell Young admitted to shooting at a group that targeted him outside the party. His friends, Marcus Venible, 18, and Tyrese Riley, 19, did not shoot during the incident but were present by Young’s side.
As Peters’ parents watched on, Young was sentenced to ten years after pleading guilty to manslaughter, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, and other charges.
Riley and Venible were sentenced each to eight years behind bars for conspiring to commit second-degree murder and illegal discharge of a weapon.
Seven other suspects have also been indicted over the 12-year-old girl’s murder.
