Attorney Steven Bertolino, the Laundrie family’s lawyer, said Friday that the autopsy on Brian’s skeletal remains was “inconclusive” and that the Sarasota County Medical Examiner sent the bones to an anthropologist.
“No manner or cause of death was determined, and the remains were sent to an anthropologist for further evaluation,” Bertolino said.
The analysis of the bones would reveal a time and cause of death but would take days with the results expected for next week.
The 23-year-old fiancé of Gabby Petito had vanished on Sept. 13 after informing his parents that he would be hiking at the Carlton reserve, known for being an alligator-infested area.
His remains were discovered Wednesday “in an area where his parents had initially advised law enforcement that Brian maybe.”
Bertolino explained that Chris Laundrie was first to spot a dry bag that belonged to Brian and an officer unearthed the other findings including Brian’s remains and his notebook.
