Chicago pair arrested after tot girl, 2, died with burns and bruises covering face, body

A two years old girl was pronounced at a Chicago hospital earlier this week and police said they have busted her suspected killers on first-degree murder charges.

On October 19, 2021, Alisson Zelaya was found “unresponsive in the 6600 block of S. California Avenue” according to police.

“An investigation by Area One detectives revealed the defendants were responsible for the death.”

  • Zelaya was covered in bruises and burns that were consistent with abuse. She was pronounced dead shortly later at Holy Cross Hospital.

    Authorities on Tuesday arrested Wilfredo Cruz, 43, and Milixen Ardon, 24, in “the 2700 block of W. 68th St.,” a seven-minute walk from the murder scene.

    Further details about the pair’s relationship with the toddler and the crime are expected during a court hearing set for this afternoon.
