Longtime CEO of Hasbro passes away aged 58; two days after taking medical leave

Hasbro announced Tuesday the passing of its CEO Brian Goldner at the age of 58, after spending the last couple of days on medical leave.

Brian Goldner was the longtime chairman and chief executive officer of the toymaker company after joining the board in 2000.

  • “He expanded the company beyond toys and games into television, movies, digital gaming and beyond,” the firm said in a statement confirming the grim news.

    Back in 2014, Goldner was diagnosed with cancer and had since remained under permanent medical treatment, reports said.

    The firm will temporarily be directed by InnerWorkings Board Member and former CEO of marketing Rich Stoddart, according to the statement.
