North Carolina authorities have arrested a Greenville mother after she stabbed her one-year-old daughter multiple times in the presence of a police officer.
Cierra Dyer, 21, was reportedly in the middle of a heated verbal dispute with a relative over the custody of the victim when she grabbed a knife and started stabbing the child.
The officer had just reached the scene Monday when he spotted Dyer knifing the toddler’s back and intervened to stop the attack.
Dyer was arrested without incidents and booked into the Greenville Police Department Jail on a $1.5 million bond.
She faces charges of attempted murder and child abuse. Police added that Dyer had been criminally prosecuted in the past for willful injury to real property and reckless driving.
The toddler was rushed to a hospital and is expected to recover.
