Former New York Times reporter Alex Berenson was permanently suspended on Twitter after repeating anti-vaccine claims on the platform.
The ex-journalist had also been criticizing lockdowns, Covid mandates, and health guidelines.
“It doesn’t stop infection or transmission. Don’t think of it as a vaccine,” the 48-year-old last tweeted.
“Think of it – at best – as a therapeutic with a limited window of efficiency and terrible side effect profile that must be dosed IN ADVANCE OF ILLNESS.”
“And we want to mandate it? Insanity.”
Twitter moderators suspended the author’s account shortly later citing “repeated violations.”
“The account you referenced has been permanently suspended for repeated violations of our Covid-19 misinformation rules.”
Last December, Berenson has voiced out his frustration over free-expression limitations that had intensified during the pandemic.
“Information has never been more plentiful or easier to distribute. Yet we are sliding into a new age of censorship and suppression, encouraged by technology giants and traditional media companies.”
“As someone who’s been falsely characterized as a coronavirus denier, I have seen this crisis firsthand.”
